The following is the list of upcoming training courses for Venturing and Sea Scout Leaders:
VENTURING LEADER SPECIFIC TRAINING is a basic course which explains Venturing to all adults new to Venturing. There are five
sessions: Here's Venturing, Understanding and Protecting Youth, Leadership and Organization, Awards and Recognition, and Resources
and Program Planning. It usually takes about 5 hours to complete. This course is required for the Advisor Key and Venturing
Advisor Training Awards.
There is no training scheduled at this time. Please check back often.

SEA SCOUT OFFICERS' SPECIALIZED TRAINING is for adult Sea Scout officers only. Skippers, mates, ship committee members, and
related district and council Scouters should be encouraged to participate. All Venturing adult leaders, including Sea Scout
officers, are expected to take the standard Venturing training course. When the Sea Scout officer has taken Adult Venturing
Leader Basic Training, he becomes eligible to take part in this specialized course.

BASIC ARCHERY INSTRUCTOR TRAINING is available if you'd like to teach Archery Merit Badge, supervise a range at camp, or run
a quality archery program for your Boy Scout Troop or Venturing Crew. Students who complete the course and pass a test will
receive the Basic Archery Instructor certification (previously Level I Instructor) valid for three years. Instructor candidates
will learn to operate a safe yet fun archery range. The course will cover range setup and safety, proper equipment, aspects
of good shooting form, and methods of teaching.
Saturday, May 17th from 8:30-5:30 at Lost Pines Scout Reservation. Cost is $35 and limited to the first 12 fully paid participants.

INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS is the required outdoor training for Varsity Scout coaches. The skills taught are based
on the outdoor skills found in The Boy Scout Handbook. The course is also ideal for Venturing leaders because it focuses on
skills that build confidence and competence in leaders conducting outdoor camping experiences.
Training is not scheduled at this time.

LEAVE NO TRACE TRAINER TRAINING is to promote and teach the principles of this program. As a trainer you will instill values
and ethics to all that will listen to you, most importantly, that they learn it is our duty, privilege, and honor to care
for the land and wildlife that lives there. LNT Trainers conduct awareness classes teaching others about the LNT principles.

TRAINER DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE is for those leaders who want more training and leadership skills and who want to be a part
of the district or council training team. It provides hands-on, interactive opportunities to practice your training skills
in a small-group environment. This is a requirement to become a certified trainer.
This course is not scheduled at this time. Normally held in August and March. Updates will be posted as soon as they are announced.

UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING is designed to be a day of learning while having fun. Simply stated, it is the finest one-day supplemental
training offered in the BSA - guaranteed to give you confidence and skills necessary for an exciting program. This training
offers a variety of courses designed to give additional information to help in all areas and programs of the Boy Scouts of
America. There are no prerequisites as this training is intended to enrich your program experience.
November 10, 2008 (Sat.)(tent.) 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at a location to be announced. Cost for this event is $10. Registration
information will be listed here as soon as it becomes available.
POWDER HORN is designed to introduce and expose Venturing and Boy Scouting adult unit leaders to the activities and resources
necessary to operate a successful outdoor/high adventure unit-level program. It is intended to help adult leaders get out
of the box in finding and using resources and in the way they lead their unit-level high adventure programs. No high adventure
skills are taught in this course. It is designed to have some disciplines introduced with a hands-on segment.
There is no Powder Horn course scheduled in Longhorn Council at this time.

WOOD BADGE will teach you outdoor skills and leadership techniques in a 'living' hands-on environment, and you will be able
to apply all you learn to your Scouting involvement and your personal life. You'll develop a Ticket, which is a written agreement
outlining how you will apply your newly learned skills as you continue your involvement in Scouting. Development of your Ticket
is an exercise in goal-setting and includes creating a personal vision and mission statement and outlining individual steps
to personal success.
SR-902 will be held at Lakeview Lodge, Sid Richardson Scout Ranch from July 14-19. The cost for this course is $225. Course
Director is Michael Bay.
SR-903 will be held at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch October 3-5 and 24-26. The course fee is $175. Course Director is Fulton
Jones.
